This space was born out of a moment of disappointment and anger. Over the last 5 months it’s turned into something bigger, and I’m really proud of the progress we’ve made.
Over 100(!) people have subscribed to this project since we started, with each post garnering hundreds (sometimes 1000s) of views: from the bottom of my heart, thank you! Thank you for reading, and subscribing, and, most of all, for participating. It means a lot.
I’ve been thinking about the future of this space. There are many issues in the Fairbanks North Star Borough and across our state. I have some big ideas and (some) energy to spare.
Lately, I’ve focused on calls to action: a summary of a topic, how to help, more resources, and often an example comment or letter. I think they are helpful, but could use some tweaks.
I’d like to shift to being more proactive, to teach and learn with you in tandem, to build a local platform for progressive advocacy in Alaska. A Big Thing! A thing bigger than me.
Before I charge off in the wrong direction, I’d like to hear from you:
What would you like to see more of?
What is/could be helpful?
Why did you subscribe, and why do you keep reading?
What’s your vision for Fairbanks and the rest of Alaska?
Seriously, I’d love to hear from you. You can leave a comment on the bottom of this post through Substack, our host, or reply to the email you get in your inbox: I’ll get them either way, and I’ll shoot you a reply.
Thanks for taking this journey with me. Updates are on their way in the weeks to come.
And something fun:
Junior Nationals, featuring the best young nordic skiers in the US, is happening right now at Birch Hill! You can drop by and see the races today and tomorrow.
Just a few days prior, the UAF Nanooks finished off a historic season with a record-breaking week at Nationals.
Fans of skiing in Fairbanks are having quite the year.
