Election Season in the Fairbanks North Star Borough is About to Begin
3 Assembly seats, at least 2 ballot measures, 3 School Board seats, 2 seats on the Interior Gas Utility Board, and 2 North Pole and 2 Fairbanks City Council seats will be up on October 3.
The official filing period for candidates to stand for FNSB Assembly, FNSBSD Board of Education, Interior Alaska Natural Gas Utility (IGU) Board, and Fairbanks and North Pole City Councils has opened and will close at 5pm Monday, July 31.
Anyone who resides anywhere within our borough can vote for Assembly, IGU and School Board: residents who live within Fairbanks or North Pole limits also vote for council members of their respective cities.
Local elections and candidates are non-partisan by state statute.
Election day is Tuesday, October 3. You can find the full list of resources around the election on the Borough Website.
Borough residents will also vote on (at least) two ballot measures. The current measures are:

Expanding Health and Social Service Powers
“Shall the Fairbanks North Star Borough exercise on an areawide basis additional health and social service powers to expend opioid settlements funds to provide grants to local providers for opioid remediation?”

FNSB Proposition 2
Exempting From Taxation Farm Structures Used Exclusively for Farming Activity
“Shall the Fairbanks North Star Borough exempt from taxation farm structures used exclusively for farming activity, as permitted by state law and as described in Ordinance No. 2023-34?”
