Representative Ashley Carrick is a fourth generation, lifelong Alaskan, with a long family history in the Interior. In 2010, she moved from her hometown of Anchorage to attend the University of Alaska Fairbanks, where she obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a minor in Secondary Education. Prior to running to represent House District 35, Ashley worked for six years as a legislative aide. For five years, she served State Representative Adam Wool as his Chief of Staff.
Ashley has worked as a substitute teacher in the Fairbanks North Star Borough School District, a counselor with the Rural Alaska Honors Institute, as a program coordinator at the American Lung Association in Alaska, as the executive director of the Tanana Valley Watershed Association, and as adjunct faculty with the Community and Technical College. She holds a master’s degree in Public Health. Ashley is one of the first three openly LGBTQ+ Alaskans serving in the Legislature.
Representative Maxine Dibert is a Koyukon Athabascan who was born and raised in Fairbanks. Her native name is Neelthdinlo which means “a strong runner.” Her grandparents were the late James and Cecelia Johnson from Kokrines, Alaska, and Einar and Katherine Anderson from Sweden and Rampart respectively. Her parents are James Johnson from Kokrines and Clara Anderson from Rampart. She has two adult children, her son Christopher and her daughter Chey. She is currently the only Alaska Native woman serving in the Alaska Legislature.
Representative Dibert taught school in Fairbanks at Denali Elementary for 21 years. Maxine has an undergraduate degree in elementary education from UAF and she also earned a master’s degree in Curriculum Development from Lesley University. She is a contributing member of Women in Science Alaska.
Born and raised in Nome, Alaska, Senator Löki Gale Tobin is a University of Alaska Anchorage graduate and holds a master’s degree in Rural Development from the University of Alaska Fairbanks Peace Corps Master’s International Program, having served as a Youth Development Volunteer in Azerbaijan from 2008-2011. Currently, she's a PhD student at the University of Alaska Fairbanks; her research topic is focused on culturally responsive education. Löki has worked in marketing and communications for Alaskan nonprofits like Boys & Girls Clubs, Kawerak, and the Alaska Community Foundation. She was also a certified fundraiser for the Anchorage Museum at Rasmuson Center.
Löki met her mentor, Tom Begich, on one of his many trips to Nome. This started a long friendship that eventually led to her joining his legislative team in Juneau as Policy Director, where for the past several years Löki has worked to serve Alaskans by expanding universal, voluntary pre-K across Alaska, protecting renters and homeowners from predatory insurance practices, and recognizing the resiliency and continued saliency of the Alaska constitution.
