I've Enabled (Completely Optional) Paid Subscriptions for Kuba's Corner
If you're in a place to afford it, I'd appreciate your support!
I have a hard time saying “no” to volunteer opportunities: meetings around three different Boards (and, maybe, counting…) and lots of individual one-offs pepper my calendar, nestled around my full-time job.
The Fahrenkamp Lunch coordinator is not paid. As a Board member of Running Club North, the track and field volunteer coordinator position I’ve spent the last 7 years doing isn’t either.
I’m helping with some (really cool, really important) people’s political campaigns in the background, and working on a public policy platform around local elections with Fireweed Collective, too.
That’s all to say: I’ve been giving a lot of my labor away!
While I don’t expect that to entirely change, I think it’s time to launch a completely optional new feature for this newsletter: paid subscriptions.
With a paid subscription, you can help offset the cost of my time around writing and research for this project.
No features are going away for free subscribers: I continue to appreciate your attention going forward. Some additional, shorter posts might end up being paid-only in the future.
My goal is to reach and inform as many people interested in the Fairbanks North Star Borough as possible. I’d like to do that in the best way I can, but there are opportunity costs and an already packed schedule involved with spending my evenings working completely for free, as I have for the past 8 months.
If you can afford it, please consider supporting my work with a voluntary paid membership: rate are set at $75 annually or $8 monthly, with a way to donate more as a Founding Member if you’d like.
Subscribing should be simple and straightforward: payments are processed through Stripe and website host Substack, which should make it pretty easy (especially as they take a good 13-15+% off the top). Let me know if you run into any issues.
I take your financial support very seriously, just like I did when I was a candidate for FNSB Assembly last year.
It comes with a promise to keep writing and to keep abreast of local issues as well as a one-person operation can.
I’m focusing on about 2 posts a week going forward, with more likely as we inch towards election windows and other important events.
As always, please get in touch if there’s anything on your radar or you have any questions.
I appreciate you taking this journey with me, and I’m looking forward to the next phase of Kuba’s Corner.
Sincerely,
Kuba Grzeda
