We’re All in for Ashley Carrick
[Several of this years municipal candidates wrote a Community Perspective for The Daily News Miner to express our support for Ashley Carrick. Unfortunately it didn't get published, so here it is below (and please feel free to share!)]
We’re All in for Ashley Carrick
As recent municipal candidates for the Fairbanks North Star Borough Assembly, Fairbanks North Star Borough School Board, Fairbanks City Council, and Fairbanks City Mayor, we are proud to voice our strong support for Ashley Carrick’s campaign to represent House District 35. We’ve spent considerable time with Ashley and believe that residents of HD 35 will be truly fortunate to have Ashley represent them.
Ashley’s campaign motto is All in for Alaska. As a fourth-generation Alaskan, Ashley has the energy, experience, and ability to serve Fairbanks well. As Representative Adam Wool’s Chief of Staff for the past five years, Ashley successfully brought about a $15 million budget increase to the University of Alaska system and helped pass legislation that expanded workforce development. She has been the Executive Director of the Tanana Valley Watershed Association, a counselor with the Rural Alaska Honors Institute, a program coordinator at the American Lung Association, a substitute teacher in the FNSB School District and a board member of the Fairbanks Summer Arts Festival. Ashley’s background is in public service and her record shows her steadfast commitment to our community. She believes in a bright future for our state and has the experience, motivation, flexibility and work ethic to get us there.
Ashley’s three main platform goals - promoting Alaska’s economic future, preserving Alaska’s educational opportunities, and protecting the health, safety and wellbeing of all Alaskans speak to her genuine, thoughtful commitment to the future of this community we all love.
Ashley knows that we must provide for our future and the future of our children by identifying new investment opportunities, creating new pathways for responsible development, and seeking new revenue for Alaska’s long-term stability and growth. Likewise, she knows that any plan for the future of our state must include a commitment to our schools through an increased base student allocation and ensuring stability for Alaska’s educators with a plan for retirement that people can count on.
The Alaska Legislature needs representatives like Ashley. Representatives who have a long-range vision, don’t let party lines get in the way, and have the commitment and political courage to compromise in order to meet their goals.
If you’ve had the good fortune to meet Ashley you know that she is kind, capable, compassionate, poised and generous. These things matter. Ashley was there for us during our campaigns for municipal office. Most of us were first time candidates and found the experience a bit overwhelming! Ashely showed up at our events and cheered us on. Early morning or late at night Ashley was always ready with a productive suggestion and a willing ear - imparting wisdom far beyond her years.
In these increasingly partisan times it is rare to find a candidate like Ashley. She is fully prepared for every public event with concrete well-researched responses. She speaks with a calm candor and determination that doesn’t skirt difficult questions. Equally important, Ashley is a listener. During her years as a legislative aide Ashley gained experience listening to constituents in West Fairbanks and using what she learned to take positive action. Ashley is genuinely interested in hearing from people with different perspectives and using what she has learned to work together to improve our community and state.
Ashley has the leadership skills, experience, knowledge, passion, and attitude we need in Juneau. She’s been hard at work for the people of Fairbanks for the past 6 years and is eager to keep working hard on our behalf. On Tuesday, November 8th join us in Voting for Ashley Carrick for House DIstrict 35. We’re all in for Ashley because Ashley is all in for Alaska!
Sincerely,
